RedZinc, based in the Guinness Enterprise Centre, is a Software-as-a-Service company with web-based, real-time video communication solutions for the healthcare industry. BlueEye Handsfree is an innovative wearable mobile video platform for paramedics, community nurses and other healthcare professionals in remote locations. These remote professionals can use the mobile video platform to send video in real-time in order to receive support and help with diagnosis and treatment from medical experts in any location.

On December 5th, Children’s Health Ireland, St James’s Hospital and its Academic Health Science Campus announced a formal collaboration with the GEC. This collaboration centres on innovation in the health system, entrepreneurship & innovation training and clinical collaboration to foster optimal patient outcomes. RedZinc founder, Donal Morris, spoke on the panel at the event as a client in the Health@GEC cluster.

“RedZinc is focused on matching innovative video telemedicine solutions with the needs of healthcare providers to help deliver quality healthcare by video, improve patient outcomes, manage symptoms at home, save costs and reduce environmental impact through transportation to appointments. The Guinness Enterprise Centre supports the development of innovation and Health@GEC is a welcome addition to help MedTech companies such as RedZinc to explore clinical pathways in parallel with new product design to bring new products to the healthcare market.”

More information about RedZinc

RedZinc specializes in wearable video camera and a web portal to manage real-time video streaming and remote access for healthcare and other industries. Their managed video platform, BlueEye, is suitable for clinicians, emergency doctors, paramedics, telemaintenance and public safety.

RedZinc’s BlueEye platform enables clinics and hospitals to deliver high quality care to patients which results in better patient outcomes, increased efficiencies and reduced operational costs. Live streamed video permits a specialist to see patients or situations remotely, enabling early critical care. It also enables medical students to learn from live situations with a point of view of the procedure. This innovative service is currently working on hospital at home video solutions to support and monitor patients in a home setting to avoid hospitalization where possible.

RedZinc has two main products:

  1. BlueEye Clinic – a video consultation platform used on any browser and in many outpatient clinics in the HSE
  2. BlueEye Handsfree which is a mobile wearable camera integrated to their platform and can be used by healthcare professionals in many applications such as remote paramedics, community nurses, doctors in smaller rural hospitals or surgeons demonstrating surgical techniques in real-time.
