Sonia Neary is the co-founder and CEO of Wellola, an innovative digital health software company that leverages technology to support hospital-at-home and self-management care models. Sonia spent more than 17 years working as a Physiotherapist in the Irish Healthcare sector, which gave her first-hand experience when establishing Wellola.

Sonia first came in contact with Furthr in 2016 at the beginning of her business journey. Sonia was a participant in the Further-managed Innovate Programme, an accelerator that supports female founders in business plan development and pitching. Wellola’s potential was clearly demonstrated from the beginning through market need and opportunity analysis.

In 2017, Furthr supported Wellola with an in-depth look at financial modelling, including the Enterprise Ireland FDS application they needed for investment in order to secure growth and scaling. Wellola has since raised €1 million in funding from Business Venture Partner (BVP) and has scaled operations in Ireland and across the UK.

Wellola’s patient portal software revolutionises the way hospitals and community-based clinics care for their patients and communicate with each other. Wellola allows patients to manage clinic appointments, access a library of educational materials, and securely receive real-time care via messaging and video consultation within their white-labelled patient-facing app. Wellola aims to reduce appointment non-attendance, improve efficiency, and maximise resources for both public and private health sectors.
